Why “Guilded Periodically”?
Guilded Periodically, as a title for our project is a play on the words “guild”, “gild” and a miss rhyme of the word “jilted”. Guild as we know is an association of craftsmen and merchants. We are that guild, and as such is represented in the spelling of the name. Gild, pronounced the same as the previous spelling, which is defined as thinly veiled with gold or to give misleading appearance too. This is a commentary toward the general “fake it til you make it” mentality that has brought us all together here, but also reminds us as the members that no matter the amount we have value. The miss rhyme of jilt, meaning to be suddenly rejected or abandoned, is a commentary on the way in which this society has abandoned its creatives. Thus resulting in a generation of “jilted” creatives. Periodically, both refers to the type of magazine we are making: a periodical and the interval in which us as these abandoned creatives can only seasonally seem to both feel and create. It is an ode to our healing, and a recognition of our true strength through the acknowledgement of our failures leading us to our successes. Other ways the title can be read by connotation: Golden Periodically, Jilted Periodically, Guilded Period/Gilded Period.

Drusilla is a dragon…literally. Haha. But seriously speaking, Dru grew up reading anything fantasy fiction oriented they could get their hands on. They’ve always had a love for animals due to the ease of the bonds Dru formed with them in comparison to other humans. Dru has grown tremendously by meeting and building a wider community of like-minded individuals focused on creating a better world. “We focus on what we can do for ourselves and one another. Each one teach one. Children walking each other home, ect ect , beautiful sayings like that.” Dru’s current creative passions are impromptu spoken word, poetry, painting, drawing, singing, and being in nature to tie it all together. The river is their “bestie”, relating to the constant state of flux, flow, and change. “However, I have a cat named Havoc that I have full blown conversations with, and a Dragon tattoo on my left arm so… I guess some things never change.”

Samm is a filmmaker, writer, podcast host, farmer, and all-things-spooky enthusiast. His love for story-telling began when he was in the fourth grade. His teacher took special interest in his creativity. She brought him a blank book to class one day and said “write me a story I can keep with my book collection in my classroom so I can be the first person to ever have one of your books”. Since then, one of Samm’s life goals is to be a published author. His love for film came from the realization that if he knew how to make a book into a movie, then he could make his own books into movies and make sure that they’re done well.
