I am not gonna be like nobody. I am gonna be my own woman.
I’m not going to be like my mother. I am going to be my own woman.

I will be just like her.
I am my own.
I will be just like my mother.
I am my own.

My own.
I am
I am not the pain I was caused. No. I am no shadow to no lover lost.
I am not the work of someone else’s hands. I am some form of masterpiece come forth from many.

I’m not God. I am only man.

I am my own. My own woman.
I know God as he walked beside my grandmama. And each night I pray sweet lullaby.
Promise? Keep safe my mind? I don’t. Can't, every time. I am a woman. I am only man. What has a man got but his mind, two hands, and some feet to maybe get him somewhere ?

I will be all things that I try not to be. I will be more than my failures. I am my failures.
I will be all of who hurt me. They are not me. They are simply passing through.
I am not you.
But we are still only man.

I am my own woman.
